About the role

The Manager Spatial Services leads a team delivering geospatial services that support land use and planning across the department. The role oversees spatial data management, analysis, mapping, reporting and web mapping services, while providing expert advice to stakeholders and Ministers on spatial issues, options and solutions.

 

The role combines strong people leadership and technical expertise to deliver accurate, high-quality geospatial outputs and reliable GIS systems. It drives data integrity, quality assurance, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, while building stakeholder support and collaboration. The Manager will translate complex spatial needs into practical solutions that improve efficiency and deliver value to the organisation.

  • Leads complex data, technology and geospatial initiatives, with strong expertise in spatial analysis, GIS, databases and data/system transformation to support strategic decision-making and digital improvement.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Geospatial Sciences, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems or a related field that covers digital modelling of the physical environment (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience managing geospatial systems to support the effective delivery of projects and services (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated experience embedding robust service management practices across teams, with clear accountability for service delivery (mandatory).
