About the role

This is a Fixed Term Position until 18 Dec 2026

The Future Public Transport Ticketing (FPTT) System will ensure Victoria has a ticketing system that is fit for purpose to meet customers’ expectations and the challenges of the transport network, while facilitating the efficient collection of fare revenues and unlocking potential benefits. The system will allow for contactless ticketing via credit and debit cards, smart phones and smart devices as well as retaining myki, and replace the system where customer information is stored.

The Marketing Lead is responsible for the management and delivery of key marketing activities including execution of advertising and marketing campaigns for DTP, as well as working with key stakeholders across the department to ensure work in DTP is supported through appropriate marketing opportunities.

Position accountabilities

  • Deliver marketing campaigns that change consumer behaviour and attitudes
  • Produce accurate and easy to understand marketing materials
  • Ensure all aspects of marketing campaigns, programs and events are effectively coordinated, approved and measured
  • Develop briefings, cabinet documents, reports and presentations that support transport initiatives, proposals and decision making
  • Negotiate with, take guidance from, and influence various FPTT project, internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide strategic advice regarding marketing and communication strategies
  • Ensure departmental partners are aware of marketing campaigns and their view/input gathered as required.

In this role, you will be expected to communicate with impact, making a positive impression and presenting information with clarity and credibility. You will engage confidently with diverse audiences, including when addressing sensitive topics, ensuring your message is both understood and compelling.

Your ability to influence and persuade will be critical, as you tailor your approach to meet the needs and values of different stakeholders, while skilfully navigating challenges and linking your ideas to broader goals.

You will also demonstrate project delivery expertise, defining tasks, coordinating efforts, and guiding others to ensure outcomes are achieved, with a focus on monitoring progress and making timely adjustments where required.

With a strong sense of outcomes thinking, you will connect day-to-day work to the organisation’s strategic direction, helping your team understand how their efforts contribute to community outcomes. Alongside this, your data literacy will enable you to support evidence-based decision-making, using advanced Excel skills such as pivot tables, formulas, and data visualisation to generate insights and inform action under the guidance of subject matter experts.

Qualifications and experience

Mandatory 

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in marketing, campaigns, or a related field
  • Demonstrated stakeholder relationship skills, ideally in a project environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading the execution of complex marketing and customer communication campaigns, ideally in a government environment

Other Requirements

This role provides services to the Future Public Transport Ticketing project. It is expected that the person will embed within the project including attending their offices and off-site meetings as required.
