About the Role
This opportunity is a Fixed Term – Part Time role until 30 June 2027
Reporting to the Manager Network Permits, the Network Permit Officer is part of the Heavy Vehicle Operational Access team and focuses on enhancing the efficiency of processing consent applications for the heavy vehicle sector. This role requires strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently, while also collaborating effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, including the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator. The officer will demonstrate excellent customer service abilities, with clear written and verbal communication. Additionally, they will actively seek opportunities to improve current work practices to support ongoing advancements within the heavy vehicle industry.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
- Customer Service – The incumbent effectively delivers an exceptional customer-oriented service to all internal and external customers and stakeholders.
- Collaboration – The incumbent uses negotiation and influencing skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business area’s objectives are communicated and prioritised.
- Heavy Vehicle Consents Assessments – The incumbent reviews and consents to heavy vehicle permit applications in a timely and efficient manner through collaboration with other road managers and teams within Operational Access.
- Problem Solving - Exercise professional judgement in the assessment and consent to permit applications to ensure the safe and efficient movement of over-dimensional vehicles on the road network.
- Stakeholder Engagement – The incumbent negotiates with and influences key stakeholders including the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator to remove or minimise barriers to improved service delivery.
- Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
- In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned
- consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.
