About the role 

The Operational Response Lead supports the coordination and management of incident and emergency response activities across the transport sector, ensuring effective communication, monitoring, and collaboration between stakeholders, emergency services, and transport operators during planned and unplanned disruptions. Working closely with the Manager Operational Response and the Transport Operations Centre, the role oversees operational readiness, incident reporting, notifications, roster and payroll administration, budget reporting, and stakeholder engagement. The position also participates in a 24/7 escalation roster, providing oversight, coordination, and timely escalation of major incidents to senior leadership, while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, emergency preparedness, and real-time transport impact reporting during emergencies.

Qualifications and experience

You'll bring:

  • Technical knowledge and experience of arrangements and mechanisms for effecting responses to incidents and/or emergencies (Desirable).
  • Experience in an operational environment. (Desirable)
  • Driving License (without any restriction which preclude the incumbent from performing the inherent requirements of the position and which cannot be reasonably accommodated by the Department) (mandatory)
