About the role
*This is a Fixed-Term Contact up until 31/12/2026*
As a motivated Planner, you’ll to contribute to shaping sustainable and liveable communities across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. In this role, you will support the preparation of a wide range of strategic plans, including structure plans, precinct structure plans, comprehensive development plans, growth frameworks and infrastructure contribution plans.


You’ll be part of a team, working with professionals in sustainability, transport, community services, and open space planning to deliver projects that respond to the needs of both established suburbs and growing regions. The role also provides the opportunity to contribute to process improvements as part of the new proposal approach outlined in the PSP Guidelines (2021).


This position is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills who is eager to gain experience in planning policy and project delivery in a collaborative environment.

Position Accountabilities
In this role, you will:

  • Assist with the preparation of strategic plans and supporting documents.
  • Liaise with councils, government agencies, and other stakeholders to support effective planning outcomes.
  • Provide input into proposals, briefs, and presentations.
  • Support project teams through coordination, meeting management, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Contribute to process improvements, innovation, and continuous improvement within the planning process.

 

Qualifications and experience 
Mandatory  

  • A tertiary qualification in Urban Planning or equivalent

Desirable

  • Membership of the Planning Institute of Australia or an equivalent professional body.
  • Two years’ experience of working in accordance with the Victoria Planning System, application of its associated legislation, processes and practices.
