About the role  

The Planner provides expert advice to the Minister for Planning on development, land use and statutory matters. The role supports delivery of planning legislation, including assessment of planning scheme amendments and reform of the Victoria Planning Provisions to improve efficiency and outcomes. Working collaboratively across teams, the Planner develops high-quality policy advice, recommendations and written briefings on complex issues. The position contributes to project delivery, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring targets are met. It also involves representing the team, influencing outcomes, and fostering strong relationships across government and industry while promoting inclusive, culturally safe working environments.

Qualifications and experience  

You’ll bring:  

  • A relevant qualification in Planning or a related field. 

  • Working knowledge of the Victoria Planning Provisions and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 is required, with statutory and/or strategic planning experience in state government, local government or consulting practice.  

  • An understanding of government policies and strategies, with an emphasis on transport and land use, combined with a sound knowledge of government processes involved with progressing budgets, plans, strategy, policy, regulation and legislation is required.

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
