About the role  

This is an ONGOING role.  

The Planner works with team members, local councils, government agencies and industry groups to support planning decisions and deliver key government priorities. The role helps manage planning applications, scheme changes and other approvals, while providing clear advice and preparing reports for the Minister for Planning and senior leaders.

The Planner also builds strong working relationships and contributes to major projects and reforms across the department. Success in this role supports timely, fair and effective planning outcomes, helps communities and stakeholders navigate planning processes and contributes to better services and policy delivery across Victoria.

  •  Can communicate clearly and confidently, using simple and easy-to-understand language suited to different audiences

  •  Takes responsibility for completing work to a high standard and understands how their work supports broader team and organisational goals.  
  •  Can present ideas in a professional and constructive way, using clear reasoning, examples and evidence to support recommendations.

Qualifications and experiences

Mandatory  

A relevant qualification in planning or related field is required. 

Desirable  

Experience in and knowledge of statutory and strategic land use planning within a metropolitan and regional planning context in Victoria.   

Knowledge of the Planning and Environment Act 1987, associated regulations, ministerial directions and other statutory instruments.   

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions   

Relevant pre-employment screening and reference checks will be required.  

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.  

Recipients of Victorian Public Service (VPS) voluntary departure packages should note that re-employment restrictions apply.
