About the role

This is a rewarding position responsible for contributing to the department’s Standing Directions compliance activities, assisting the development and maintenance of financial policies and assisting with the broader financial compliance and financial authorisation activities of the department. 

This position contributes to the development, publication and monitoring of DTP’s financial policies and procedures. The role will monitor compliance with policies and assist with the education and training of people in the organisation. The position also assists with responsibilities for risk management, audit action tracking and ad hoc activities for the Finance division.

Position accountabilities

DTP is seeking a motivated finance professional to support the delivery and continuous improvement of its financial governance and compliance program. In this role, you will assist with the development and maintenance of compliance frameworks aligned with the Financial Management Act 1994, accounting standards, Standing Directions and DTF financial reporting guidance. You will contribute to annual compliance assessments and reporting, and support the coordination of testing, issue resolution and reporting to senior leaders.

A key focus of the position is enhancing the Department’s financial policies, procedures and training materials, as well as supporting financial authorisations activities and responding to ad hoc requests. The successful candidate will help lift overall financial management capability and support effective, efficient and compliant operations across the Investment and Technology Division and the wider Department.

Qualifications and experience

 Mandatory 

  • Tertiary qualification or sufficient experience in accounting, finance or related discipline.
  • there will also be a qualification validation done at pre employment stage. 

 Desirable 

  • Finance, accounting or related discipline qualification that is accredited by CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants. 
  • Experience in policy and procedure development, including compliance frameworks and processes.
