About the role 
This is a Fixed Term Position until 15 September 2028
The role supports the delivery of the next Melbourne Metropolitan Train Franchise (MR5) by providing legal advice throughout the procurement, contract negotiation, and transition to the new train franchisee. Reporting to the Director Legal, MR5 Project, it works closely with legal, technical, commercial, and project teams to deliver project objectives.

The role provides practical legal advice on tender evaluation, contract finalisation, asset and contract transfers, legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as project risks. It also prepares clear documentation for internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Law (LLB), a current Victorian Practising Certificate (or the ability to obtain one before commencement), and at least 5 years' post-qualification experience (mandatory).
• Experience delivering legal support on major commercial projects, including working with a range of procurement models.
• Knowledge of Victorian Government decision-making processes and an understanding of the rail industry.
