About the role 

The Principal Planning Data Capability role leads the design and delivery of planning data solutions that help the Department collect, manage and analyse data to support evidence-based decision-making. The role works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable and meets business needs.

 

The position provides technical leadership on data strategy, governance and solution design, while coordinating work across teams to deliver key priorities. It also ensures planning data is managed securely, ethically and in line with relevant standards and regulations.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A tertiary qualification in information systems, computer science or an equivalent discipline, along with extensive experience designing and developing data solutions across a range of platforms and technologies (mandatory).
  • Proven experience working with business stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications and support successful delivery (mandatory).
  • Strong data analysis and querying skills using languages such as SQL or Python (mandatory). 
  • Prior experience using AI and Agentic AI technologies/solutions. (mandatory)
