About the role
The role supports various procurement stakeholder engagement opportunities by coordinating and minuting complex discussions at Community of Practise (CoP) meetings and contributing to the regular communication events/requirements for the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to promote awareness and understanding of procurement initiatives. By providing timely and accurate advice, documentation and contribution, the Procurement Policy Officer contributes to capability building activities and helps uplift procurement knowledge and practise across the organisation.
Key Selection Criteria
The role requires foundational capability in policy development, critical thinking, problem solving and effective communication, with the ability to organise information logically and contribute to quality outcomes. Candidates must demonstrate curiosity and continuous improvement mindset, along with a developing understanding of procurement policy, compliance frameworks and risk management. Experience supporting procurement or policy-related activities within a structured process environment will be well regarded.

Position accountabilities
DTP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented procurement specialist to support the development and application of procurement policy across the organisation. In this role, you will contribute to the review and maintenance of procurement policies, procedures and guidance materials to ensure alignment with whole-of-government legislation, frameworks and internal requirements. You will provide advice to business areas on procurement processes and documentation, escalating more complex matters as needed and helping to drive consistent and compliant practices.
A key focus of the position is supporting organisational capability uplift. This includes maintaining online training materials, coordinating communications and reporting on participation and completion rates to monitor compliance and inform continuous improvement. The role will also assist with the preparation of communications from the Chief Procurement Officer and support procurement-related intranet content, newsletters and initiatives to increase awareness and promote good practice across the department.
The successful candidate will bring strong written communication skills, sound judgement, stakeholder responsiveness and an interest in procurement policy and practice. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of public value while developing specialist skills in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.
Qualifications and experience
- Procurement experience or knowledge would be desirable.
