About the role
This is a Fixed Term Contract until 18/12/2026
Freight Victoria is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Officer to support the delivery of key freight and ports initiatives across Victoria.
In this role, you will contribute to the development and implementation of policies, programs and projects that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of Victoria’s freight supply chains and commercial ports. You will provide high-quality analysis, reporting and advice to support evidence-based decision-making, and play an active role in coordinating engagement with industry and government stakeholders.
Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you will have the opportunity to work across a broad range of projects, gain exposure to key freight issues, and contribute to outcomes that support the movement of goods across the state.

Key Accountabilities
- Support project delivery: Coordinate and contribute to freight and ports projects, including preparing project briefs, reports and presentations, and ensuring delivery within time, cost and quality parameters.
- Provide policy and analytical support: Collect, analyse and interpret data on freight system performance to inform policy advice, program development and project outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality documentation: Draft and review Ministerial briefs, correspondence, reports and Cabinet submissions to a high professional standard.
- Engage with stakeholders: Build and maintain effective relationships across the Department, other government agencies, ports managers and freight industry representatives to support collaboration and shared outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance project and policy processes, and support initiatives that improve service quality and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Support team performance: Work constructively as part of a team, sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive, results-focused culture.
Qualifications and experience

- Tertiary qualification in a relevant or a related discipline.
