The Housing, Building and Land Delivery Group is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for driving proactive end-to-end delivery of Victoria’s housing and building agenda. The Group creates zoned land that connects homes to jobs and infrastructure, supports a continued pipeline of government-owned land for development, and drives reform to ensure safe and quality buildings for Victorians

About the Role

This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2026.

 

The Project Officer will support the delivery of precinct-based projects across Central Geelong and regional Victoria. This includes preparing strategic and statutory planning advice, supporting high-level governance groups, and helping to integrate land use and transport planning to create quality urban environments. You will be involved in developing reports, presentations and briefings, facilitating project governance activities, and maintaining strong working relationships with local and state government stakeholders.

 

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to the successful implementation of major urban development initiatives, working within a high-performing and collaborative team. You will help identify risks and opportunities, manage project milestones, and assist in coordinating activities that enable efficient and timely decision-making.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

 

In this role, you’ll provide high-quality planning advice, reports, and presentations that directly inform decision-making across key projects. You’ll be responsible for managing tasks, timelines, risks, and reporting related to urban development initiatives, ensuring consistent progress and alignment with government priorities. A significant aspect of the role includes coordinating information and secretariat support to governance groups, such as the Geelong Authority, while actively engaging with stakeholders across local and state government. You will use internal systems to manage procurement, document workflows, and support overall project performance.

 

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate experience in project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning within an urban planning or infrastructure context. You bring critical thinking skills to complex challenges, develop practical and policy-aligned solutions, and communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Your ability to translate planning objectives into actionable outcomes will be highly valued in this role.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

 

  • A relevant tertiary degree in the built environment, including, but not limited to, architecture, property development, planning, and urban design.
  • Experience in project management and/or delivery
