About the group
Investment and Technology leads and manages the investment lifecycle; drives commercial advice & negotiations to facilitate reform; and enables core delivery through Finance, Procurement & Enterprise Technology.
Commercial Advisory is a Division within Investment and Technology, and works to plan for, design and lead major commercial transactions and deliver commercial and contract management services delivering innovative and value for money outcomes.
About the role
This is a 3 year fixed term role
The Project Officer will support the Director, Commercial Bus Contracting Reform and Transactions, in delivering high-value and complex projects through effective coordination and administration. This role involves managing project activities, governance calendars, procurement and engagement of advisors, budgeting and reporting, and ensuring smooth communication across stakeholders. The successful candidate will have experience working in multidisciplinary teams, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while taking initiative and working independently to achieve project and branch outcomes.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support complex commercial and contractual projects in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role relies on strong organisational and analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the confidence to manage competing priorities while maintaining productive relationships across teams and stakeholders. The successful candidate will bring experience in project administration or commercial transactions, sound judgement, and a collaborative, adaptable approach to delivering quality outcomes.

Position accountabilities
- Assist the Director, Commercial Bus Contracting Reform and Transactions in project administration, project and tasks management, communication and coordination of calendars for various governance forums.
- Assist in procurement and management of advisors, project budgeting and reporting, general transaction management, and coordination of other project matters with an outcome focus.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders both within and external to the Department of Transport and Planning.
- Assist with the preparation of reports, briefings, advice, presentations and other project related documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Effectively managed records (including sensitive and confidential material) to meet corporate document control guidelines, including keeping minutes of meetings.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
A relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, finance, economics, business management, law, or related discipline.
Desired:
At least two years’ experience as executive assistant or administrative support in a relevant commercial project / transaction setting
Experience working with State or Federal Government.
