Key Selection Criteria

 

The ideal candidate will bring strong data literacy skills, with the ability to analyse complex datasets, generate meaningful insights and present findings through clear visualisations and advanced Excel reporting. They will demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving and innovation, with the capacity to improve processes and deliver high-quality outcomes. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence and adapt messaging for different audiences will be essential to succeed in this role.

Position accountabilities
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a Reporting Analyst to provide high-quality reporting and analysis that supports effective decision-making across the organisation.


In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, collating and analysing data to prepare accurate and timely reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues impacting programs and organisational outcomes. You will support the development of systems, tools and processes that monitor and evaluate transport performance, investment and project delivery, ensuring insights are reliable and meaningful.


A key part of the role will involve developing and managing reports, spreadsheets and presentations sourced from a wide range of data, ensuring outputs are clear, accurate and aligned with the Department’s strategic objectives. You will also contribute to the delivery of business intelligence and reporting insights through robust data and business analysis.


The position requires close collaboration with colleagues across the Department, as well as central and transport agencies, to ensure reporting outputs meet stakeholder needs and expectations. You will also play an active role in supporting team projects and initiatives, contributing to a collaborative and results-driven work environment.


We are looking for a motivated professional with strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to translate complex data into clear insights. You will demonstrate experience in data analysis, reporting and business intelligence, with proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, along with the ability to work cooperatively within a team.

Qualifications and experience
 Desirable 
-    Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or a related field.
-    Previous experience working with diverse stakeholder groups.

 


Mandatory 
-    Experience in a similar role.
-    Ability to utilise advanced Excel formulas, pivot tables and generation of data charts is required.
