About the Role

Fixed Term Until 30 June 2027

The Road Safety Partnerships Lead will work with Local Government, non-government organisations, DTP and State government and the community to activate them and support their participation and engagement in road safety matters.

As part of a statewide team, this role is responsible for building effective relationships with key stakeholders across government at a state and local level and non-government sectors to support the objective of Victoria’s Road Safety Strategy. Operating on an outreach basis, the Road Safety Partnerships Lead will actively engage with stakeholders and community at the local level to understand their perspective, opportunities and challenges and to present on current Road Safety initiatives

The role will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating initiatives, programs and projects and ensuring that processes to manage, monitor and assess these are in place for effective delivery, monitoring and evaluation. Working with the Policy teams within RSV the role will also facilitate input from the community on new or emerging policy challenges and opportunities, whilst feeding intelligence and stakeholder and community needs to inform RSV’s future work.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

  • Understanding of Road Safety Issues – Has developed a clear picture of road safety perspectives, opportunities and issues within the communities and geographical area for which the role is responsible for.
  • Stakeholder Management– Has built strong and trusted relationships with external stakeholders including Councils, Road Safety Groups, Police and Non-Government Organisations and is able to build connections with relevant internal subject matter experts.
  • Effective Program and project management – Has provided effective project management to coordinate the delivery and effective operations of assigned programs, projects and initiatives.
  • Strong Networks and Customer Service – Strong and trusting relationships have been built with internal stakeholders within Department of Transport, other parts of government, and community organisations. Is responsive to internal and external stakeholders needs and supports timely resolution of queries or concerns.

 

Key Selection Criteria

The DTP is seeking a collaborative professional who can build strong partnerships, lead co-creation processes, and effectively manage diverse stakeholder needs to achieve shared outcomes. The role involves coordinating project delivery, guiding teams, and applying critical thinking to solve complex problems while influencing decisions and securing support for key initiatives. Success also relies on understanding organisational and political contexts to navigate challenges and deliver high-quality results.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

  • Community development and stakeholder engagement experience

Desirable

  • Experience in working with local government
  • Experience in delivery of community programs and projects
  • Experience in facilitating groups including design of group facilitation activities

All new appointments to the department will be subject to a National Criminal Records Check, Misconduct Screening, and a Qualification Check where there is a requirement for a mandatory qualification.
