Road Safety Victoria is a Division within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for leading the Victorian Government to achieve Zero road fatalities by 2050 .

About the Role

This is a Fixed Term, full time position until 30/01/2026.

The Road Safety Program Manager – Safer Vehicles plays a pivotal role in delivering high-impact initiatives that contribute to reducing serious injuries and fatalities on Victoria’s road network.

This role leads the delivery of two key projects:

  • The evaluation of the Unsafe2Safe program, ensuring lessons are translated into future investment and policy decisions.
  • A new, time-sensitive initiative aimed at increasing the uptake of safer vehicle technologies across Victorian government and corporate fleets.

Working closely with internal DTP teams, government agencies, and industry stakeholders, the role requires strong policy insight, program delivery expertise, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. This is not a vehicle engineering role—success relies on leadership, strategic thinking, and a commitment to public safety.

The successful candidate will be a strategic and outcomes-focused leader with demonstrated experience delivering complex programs, preferably in a public sector, policy, or road safety context. They will bring:

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex program/project management in road safety, public sector policy or public health areas.

Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in a related field, or strong experience in policy related road safety fields
  • Strong communications and negotiation skills and the ability to present complex information in a digestible form.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
