Road Safety Victoria within the Department of Transport and Planning, leads the efforts of all road safety partners to deliver a collective response across government, our industry partners, and the Victorian community to create a safe road environment that supports all road users regardless of mode to make safe choices aimed to reduced road trauma as we work towards the vision of zero deaths on Victorian roads by 2050. 
Road Safety Victoria administer the School Crossing Supervisor Program, which has been a successful partnership with Local Government since 1975. Under this program, School Crossing Supervisors are in place to support school students to travel to school safely. The Department of Transport and Planning is in the process of implementing a School Crossing Risk Assessment Framework (SCRAF) which uses risk-based model that aligns to Safe Systems approach underpinning modern road safety initiatives.

 

About the role
This is a Fixed Term, full time position until 31/08/2026.

 
We’re looking for a proactive, detail-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll connect with schools, councils, and service providers, oversee data collection activities, and manage access and uploads within the SCRAF GIS platform.
Be part of the SCRAF Implementation Project, helping deliver a new road safety risk assessment approach across every Victorian school crossing. As our Scheduling Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in coordinating and scheduling onsite data collection across 79 local councils, ensuring vital information is gathered on time and to a high standard.
If you bring an understanding of road safety principles, traffic engineering concepts, and GIS expertise and can commit to an early start to the workday, rotated across the team, on a Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday during the school terms– we’d love to hear from you!

Success in this role requires a proactive and outcomes-focused professional who can define and deliver project tasks, guide others in their execution, and adapt plans as needed to achieve agreed outcomes. The ideal candidate applies systems thinking to assess complex situations, anticipates impacts, and identifies effective solutions while fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Strong digital and technological literacy is essential, enabling them to confidently use and support others in operating the SCRAF system and related tools to drive project efficiency and quality outcomes.

Position accountabilities
In this role, you will work closely with the Scheduling Team Leader to manage and streamline scheduling processes, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to coordinate and track data collection across school crossing sites. You will build strong relationships, oversee traffic surveys, monitor progress, and manage high-volume correspondence to ensure timely, accurate, and well-communicated project delivery.

 

Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
Experience in working in a key role that directly contributed to the successful delivery of a project or program and its objectives and intended outcomes. 
Proven ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships particularly with local and state governments, community and industry. 
Experience in working in a role coordinating, scheduling and managing logistical activities in a program or project. 

Desirable 
Previous experience in a Road Safety role.
