Position accountabilities
The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Advisor, Cabinet Committees to play a key role in supporting the department’s Cabinet and Cabinet Committee operations.
In this pivotal role, you will provide authoritative advice to the department, public entities and Ministers’ Offices on matters relating to Cabinet and administrative policy. You will oversee the day-to-day management of the department’s Cabinet business, ensuring the timely and high-quality preparation, allocation and assurance of Cabinet documents.
As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with the Cabinet Services Manager to drive the implementation and continuous improvement of CabX, strengthening governance and streamlining Cabinet processes. You will also lead the development of guidelines, systems and training materials to enhance understanding of Cabinet and parliamentary procedures across the department and its stakeholders.
This role requires a skilled communicator with the ability to build strong relationships across the department, agencies and Ministers’ Offices. You will lead and mentor a small team to ensure effective support to Ministers, the Secretary and Executives, while contributing to the broader work of the Ministerial and Government Services Branch.
The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of Cabinet and parliamentary processes, exceptional attention to detail, and demonstrated experience managing complex governance or policy functions. You will be proactive, adaptable and collaborative, with a strong commitment to delivering excellence in public administration.

Qualifications and experience
Mandatory
– Demonstrated sound experience working with Cabinet processes, i.e. Cabinet submissions, approvals, related sign-off and allocation requirements.
– Proven understanding of the Budget Bid process and the Legislation Program process, including the coordination and preparation of documentation for Executive Government consideration.
– Experience liaising with central agencies and stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of Cabinet, budget and legislative materials.
