About us 

Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated transport infrastructure and precincts planning project that will deliver a 90km rail line linking every major train service from the Frankston Line to the Werribee Line via Melbourne Airport, as well as investment in the suburbs, better connecting Victorians to jobs, retail, education, health services and each other. Suburban Rail Loop Authority (SRLA) is the statutory body established to plan all elements of the project, procure builders, develop structure planning for SRL Precincts and oversee construction and the other changes that will help transform Melbourne and Victoria.

About the opportunity 

The Senior Advisor, Economic Development is an ongoing opportunity responsible for coordinating investment advice on precinct initiatives being delivered as part of the Suburban Rail Loop. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent value for money outcomes, conducting research and analysis, preparing high quality reports, and confident in providing expert advice and recommendations to senior managers.  
 
 

  • Inform the development of strategies to identify, facilitate, and attract investment into the SRL precincts to realise economic and productivity ambitions established in the SRL Business and Investment Case.  

  • Undertake research, economic analysis, and data visualisation to inform economic development strategy, benefits management, and the preparation of clear, evidence‑based documentation to support strategic decision‑making.  

  • Inform the design of critical programs and activities with partners to deliver precinct jobs growth and ambition and contribute to broader implementation of the SRL Project.  

  • Engage with stakeholders across the public sector, local councils, institutions and private industry, to encourage development of major employment hubs within the SRL precincts while managing associated relationship opportunities and risks.  

  • Provide high quality advice to SRLA executives and Managers regarding economic development opportunities into SRL East Precincts.  

  • Developing and reviewing economic development policies in alignment with State objectives including networking, advocacy, negotiation, and strategic planning, fostering strong stakeholder relationships.  

  • Contribute to a culture of innovation, inclusion and high performance, embracing best practice and innovative approaches to support the successful delivery of Victoria’s largest integrated infrastructure and city shaping project, and synthesising lessons learnt from place investment and partnership activity.
