The Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. We're delivering world-class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VHBA also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines.  

 

The Opportunity

 

This role is responsible in the development and implementation of effective safety management standards, practices, and reporting processes across VHBA's program of major health infrastructure projects. Working closely with project delivery teams, you’ll ensure safety risks are proactively identified, managed, and controlled. This role also provides strategic guidance on incident investigations, root cause analysis, and emergency response planning. 

 

  • Proactively manage and maintain the Safety Incident Management System (SIMS), including onboarding, data entry, action tracking from HPIs, tracking NCRs, generating reports, and driving system enhancements. 

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment with health and safety management system requirements, procedures, processes and relevant legislation. 

  • Manage and enhance records management databases and office systems, including internal and external SharePoint collaboration platforms.  

 

We are looking for: 

  • Proven ability to interpret and apply Occupational Health and Safety legislation to deliver technical safety guidance across diverse stakeholders and capital projects. 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to actively listen, understand stakeholder needs, foster collaboration, and offer clear guidance, support, and direction.  

  • Proven experience in defining, scoping, planning, and managing projects and improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing health and safety outcomes.  

  • Hold a valid car licence and be willing to travel to regional areas, with the occasional overnight stays.
