People, Legal and Governance is a group within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for providing business-enabling people and corporate services functions to drive a high-performance culture and to support integrated operations.
About the Role
Full time – Fixed Term (16 Months)
The Senior Advisor, Corporate Strategy, Planning and Performance provides leadership across the Department to support delivery of an integrated planning and performance reporting framework to ensure oversight of the department’s strategic direction. The Senior Advisor will partner with a broad range of stakeholders to deliver an innovative work program that enables achievement of a better transport and planning system.

Position Outcomes
- Leads the coordination, review, approval, and delivery of the department’s annual report, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, alignment with strategic objectives, and timely submission to relevant stakeholders
- Supports the development and implementation of the department’s annual strategic plan and actively contribute to the ongoing annual business planning cycle, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and strategic objectives
- Establishes and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the department and portfolio to ensure a deep and shared understanding of planning and performance goals, priorities, and activities
- Applies a continuous improvement approach to identify and address issues and risks, while aligning strategy, planning, and performance with departmental objectives, government priorities, and community expectations
- Maintains accurate and complete records of work activities in compliance with legislative requirements and the department’s records management, information security, and privacy policies.
- Provides support across the Governance & Portfolio Services division as required.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA - As the Senior Advisor Corporate Strategy, Planning and Performance, you will lead the development and implementation of strategic planning processes across the organisation, creating a shared vision that aligns with both internal capabilities and external influences. You will act as a subject matter expert, building capability across teams to ensure strategic plans cascade effectively into operational and performance outcomes. Your ability to manage a wide range of complex and often competing stakeholder needs will be critical in facilitating innovative and sustainable solutions.
With strong communication skills, you will engage with credibility and clarity, including on difficult and sensitive matters. You will apply critical thinking to deliver tangible business outcomes, drawing on a broad perspective to address challenges and embed long-term improvements. By fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, you will contribute to enhanced quality, efficiency, and performance. In managing people, you will set clear expectations, provide timely feedback, and tailor your approach to optimise individual and team engagement.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
