About the Role

Job Location: 525 Collins Street

The Senior Contract Manager oversees contracts for major rail projects, making sure private partners meet their obligations on time and within budget. They manage issues, claims, variations and reporting, while keeping accurate records for audits. The role works closely with senior stakeholders, including government leaders and project partners, to negotiate outcomes and manage risks. They also support governance and provide clear briefings to decision-makers. Success in this role ensures projects run smoothly, deliver value for money, maintain strong partnerships, and support reliable train services for the public.

You’re someone who: 

  • Enjoys solving complex problems and improving processes to prevent issues from happening again.
  • Can deliver projects end-to-end, setting clear goals, managing risks, and ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Has strong commercial and financial understanding, managing contracts, partnerships, and risks to achieve value for money.
  • Can influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders to build support and reach effective outcomes.
  • Stays calm under pressure, works with purpose, and keeps teams focused on delivering results that benefit the community.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Tertiary degree in engineering, business, commerce or law; or (Mandatory)
  • Extensive experience managing public private partnership contracts or other high value high risk contracts (Mandatory)
  • Experience in transitioning major projects into operations (Desirable)
  • Experience in the transport or a regulated industry (Desirable)
