Title: Senior Coordinator Special Events
About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 January 2028
The Senior Coordinator Special Events is responsible for coordinating the planning and delivery of transport services to support the successful facilitation of special events. This role ensures all readiness and preparedness activities are achieved in a manner consistent with the requirements and timelines defined in various transport legislation and operator contracts.
The role also has responsibility for ensuring the Department is compliant with the requirements defined in transport events legislation.
The incumbent will be able to provide high level expertise into planning and scheduling processes and drive continued efficiency through continual improvement and technical innovation.
Position accountabilities
- Managing the delivery of special events transport requirements in a manner consistent with the customer and service delivery objectives of the Department.
- Ensure that the Department’s obligations under transport events legislation are efficiently managed which enables operators to provide effective, seamless and coordinated public transport.
- Ensuring transport operators are accountable and compliant with the arrangements defined in the contractual agreement in the provision of transport services during special events.
- Accountable for the safety and security, ensuring the delivery of effective crowd and risk management strategies are implemented for the purposes of planning and delivery of all special events.
- Provision of high-level subject matter expertise and accurate information as required so that all relevant stakeholders are well informed regarding special event transport matters.
- Develop and maintain robust partnerships with transport and event operators, and other relevant stakeholders to provide high quality, reliable and targeted events management services to ensure high standard service to commuters.
- In line with Section 31A of the Public Administration Act 2004 (Vic) other duties may be assigned consistent with employment classification, skills, and capabilities.
Qualifications and Experience
Desirable
- Qualifications and experience in project management, systems management, planning and/or risk management
- Victorian Drivers License
Other position-specific requirements
- Will require occasional work outside of ordinary hours and away from usual place of work. This includes attendance at regional, and metropolitan Event Operation Centres and on-network observations during early mornings, evenings, overnight, on weekends and public holidays.
