About the role

This is an ONGOING fulltime role.

The Senior GIS and Database Systems Officer provide technical support and enhancement for digital land information systems, delivering GIS, FME, and back-end system support to the Declaration and Land Information team. It supports Spatial/Digital Engineering projects, maintaining database integrity and online GIS platforms while ensuring spatial accuracy and performance. The role requires proficiency with GIS software, including ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, Online, and Enterprise, with expertise in spatial data management and raster analysis. The incumbent collaborates with government agencies, GIS and database practitioners, land surveyors, road declaration specialists, and internal teams to ensure accurate, up-to-date spatial information that supports effective land governance and transport system management.

The role manages and processes raster datasets, programs and customises GIS software, and supports spatial database integrity and online GIS platforms. It develops SQL queries, automates data workflows using FME, troubleshoots system and data issues, and supports the day-to-day operation of SPLENDID and SPIDRE systems.

Qualification and Experience

  • Degree in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS or related tertiary qualification. (mandatory) Senior GIS and Database Systems Officer Page 2 V1 2025
  • Demonstrated experience in spatial data systems (e.g. GIS platforms such as ArcGIS), SQL databases, and data transformation tools such as FME. Ability to automate workflows, manage complex datasets, and maintain the integrity of information across digital platforms. (mandatory)
  • Proficient in SQL. (mandatory) – Experienced with FME for automating spatial and tabular data workflows. (mandatory) – Skilled in GIS platforms (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online) for spatial analysis and map production. (mandatory)
  • Experience with programming and customisation of ESRI ArcGIS software. (desirable)
