About the Role

This is a Fixed Term Position- 12mths

This role is responsible to lead and contribute as appropriate the development and implementation of a health and safety enabling services. This is through building capability across DTP to meet the identified outcomes of DTP strategies, frameworks, programs and procedures to ensure a proactive health and safety culture. The role will contribute to and leverage the provision of the incident management system and other Health and Safety Management System items to provide high level stakeholder engagement, education and support.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities

  • Apply well-developed specialist knowledge to embed the required transformation in Occupational Health and Safety across a variety of DTP business units including high-risk construction activities aiming to reduce and prevent workplace injuries and illness.
  • Drive the implementation and delivery of health and safety programs that focus on critical and key risks, particularly amongst field-based activities, and ensure targeted proactive risk solutions according to risk profile, safety data, industry data, and injury data.
  • Partner with other People Legal and Governance business functions to support targeted evidence-based risk assessments and solutions to the right places including the analysis and reporting of relevant data to inform prevention, early intervention, incident management and investigation.
  • Drive and ensure the implementation of consistent, effective and robust solutions that will assist to continually improve health, safety and wellbeing performance, achieve business objectives and reduce financial cost including working collaboratively with DTP contractors.
  • Perform assurance activities such as inspections, audits, and reviews of critical and key risks, and coach and mentor operational staff and contractors to minimise safety and wellbeing risks.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of processes and procedures, which demonstrate compliance and support DTP staff and contractors to adequately assess and manage risk.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory 

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant or related field

 

Desirable

  • Extensive experience in enabling occupational health and safety capability among others 
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and development
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria.
