About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer & Director of Information Technology, the Senior Manager, Architecture & Strategy is responsible for ST Vic’s IT architecture and strategy, helping to transform and integrate the organisation’s IT programs.

Working broadly across ST Vic and leading a small team, the role will ensure IT systems and software applications are effectively utilised, developed and implemented to meet business requirements. The role will also maintain a strong focus on emerging and innovative technologies that can enhance ST Vic’s organisation-wide technological capability.

The responsibilities of the enior Manager, Architecture & Strategy will include, but are not limited to:

• Plan, execute and manage IT strategies, including defining scopes, objectives and deliverables aligned with ST Vic’s business objectives.
• Lead and manage ST Vic’s technology architecture, ensuring cost-effective solutions and effective utilisation of resources.
• Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends and make informed decisions regarding technology architecture and technology stack choices.
• Develop and maintain effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and technology vendors.
• Lead, manage and support a high-performing team, building engagement, cohesion and commitment to service delivery.
• Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.
• Explore innovative applications of technology, including artificial intelligence, automation and emerging technologies that may transform the transport sector and regulatory environment.

You will bring significant experience in technology architecture, IT strategy and the delivery of complex technology initiatives, with the ability to align technology capabilities with broader organisational and business outcomes. You will be comfortable operating at a strategic level while maintaining an understanding of how architecture and technology decisions translate into practical organisational outcomes.

You will demonstrate a strong business partnering and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to bring together diverse stakeholders, navigate competing objectives and influence complex projects. You will be able to establish strong relationships with senior stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners while maintaining a clear focus on quality, value and organisational outcomes.

You will also bring a forward-looking approach to technology, with the ability to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement. Experience considering emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, automation and new ways of delivering technology-enabled services will be highly valued.

About You

You are a strategic and forward-thinking technology leader who can connect business objectives with technology strategy and architecture.

You have the ability to see the bigger organisational picture, understand complex systems and identify where technology can create meaningful improvements. You are comfortable providing high-level advice, challenging existing approaches and helping shape longer-term organisational direction.

You are a collaborative leader who can build strong relationships across an organisation and with external stakeholders. You can bring people together around complex issues, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences and navigate competing priorities to achieve practical outcomes.

You will also have demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to develop others, foster talent and create an environment where people are engaged, supported and encouraged to innovate. You will champion continuous improvement, quality by design and new approaches that deliver strong outcomes for ST Vic and the Victorian community.

Qualifications

A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science, business administration or a related field is required.

Experience leading IT teams within a complex organisation will be highly regarded, as will experience working within the public sector.
