About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2028.
The Senior Planner leads planning projects and develops planning policies that help deliver government priorities, focusing on the Great Ocean Road Strategic Framework Plan. They work with colleagues, government agencies, councils, Traditional Owners, industry and the community to build strong relationships, provide clear advice and deliver successful outcomes. The role prepares planning documents, reports and policy recommendations, manages complex projects and supports good decision-making. Success in this role helps create better planning outcomes, strengthens collaboration, and ensures planning policies are practical, effective and deliver positive results for Victorian communities.

- Enjoys leading complex planning projects and delivering outcomes that support government priorities.
- Can manage projects from planning through to delivery, balancing priorities, risks and timelines.
- Can apply strong statutory planning knowledge to guide decisions and deliver high-quality planning outcomes.
- Enjoys working with a range of stakeholders to solve complex planning issues and achieve shared goals.
- Can provide guidance and support to others, sharing your expertise to build capability across the team.
Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- A relevant qualification in Urban Planning, Environment, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Economics, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or similar (mandatory).
- Thorough knowledge of the Victoria Planning Provisions, the Great Ocean Road and Environs Protection Act 2020 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (mandatory).
- Demonstrated experience in statutory planning, strategic planning and in delivering complex planning projects, policy development and implementation (mandatory)
- Strategic and/or statutory planning experience in state or local government (desirable).
