The Office of the Secretary leads, oversees and coordinates all departmental functions, portfolio-wide activities and interactions with DTP Ministers.
About the role
As Senior Policy Advisor, you will work closely with Principal Policy Advisors to coordinate and manage key policy issues across planning, building and precinct portfolios. You will provide clear, strategic advice to Senior Executives, the Secretary and Ministerial offices, supporting informed decision-making. The role involves preparing high-quality briefings, Cabinet submissions and reports, as well as contributing to whole-of-department processes such as budget, strategic planning and annual reporting. You will coordinate cross-portfolio policy advice and support key governance activities, including PAEC processes. Building strong relationships across the Department and with external stakeholders, you will play a central role in ensuring consistent, timely and well-informed policy outcomes.

You understand political and organisational context, navigating competing priorities while ensuring decisions align with values and obligations. Your policy expertise enables you to develop clear, evidence-based options and recommendations that support strategic objectives and deliver meaningful outcomes for the community.

Qualifications and experience
- A relevant tertiary degree would be well regarded
