About the role 

The Senior Policy Officer leads and contributes to projects that support government priorities and improve Victoria’s building regulatory system. They develop policy options, provide advice to Ministers and senior leaders, and prepare briefs, reports and recommendations on complex issues. The role builds strong relationships with government, industry and community stakeholders to gain support and reach practical outcomes. They also contribute to developing legislation and regulations, stay informed about building policy issues and support junior team members. Success means delivering clear, evidence-based advice and policies that improve building safety, quality and outcomes for Victorians.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

• A tertiary qualification in law, public policy, economics or a related discipline is highly desirable.  
• Experience in the development and amendment of legislation and/or regulations in a State or Commonwealth public service setting is highly desirable. 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
