About the role 

This is a Fixed Term Position until 11 June 2027  

The Senior Policy and Project Officer delivers legislative, regulatory and policy support across transport portfolios, including roads, road safety, ports, freight, infrastructure, and public and active transport. The role develops policy advice, leads regulatory reform projects, and reviews legislation to ensure regulatory frameworks remain effective and fit for purpose.

 

Working with stakeholders across government and industry, the role prepares advice for senior leaders, Ministers and Cabinet, develops consultation materials, represents the branch in working groups, and responds to complex and time-sensitive policy issues. Other duties may be undertaken as required.

  • Leads projects by translating strategy into practical outcomes, with clear governance, risk management and success measures.
  • Thinks critically to analyse complex issues, interpret information and develop practical solutions.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, presenting complex information in a way that is easy for different audiences to understand.
  • Builds and maintains strong stakeholder relationships, proactively addressing issues and delivering positive outcomes.
