Title: Senior Project Officer
Planning and Land Services is a Group within the Department of Transport and Planning and is responsible for several significant Statutory Authorities and Administrative Offices ranging in size, complexity and core functions. The Planning and Land Services Group manages the state’s planning, building and heritage systems, including developing long-term, integrated land-use strategies and policies, administering statutory planning responsibilities and facilitating urban development where the Minister for Planning is the decision maker.
Surveying Services provides critical locational data, products and services that support Victoria’s ongoing management and development by both the private sector, and other Victorian Government agencies. Bringing together the Office of Surveyor-General Victoria, Transport Surveying and Declaration team, and Office of the Chief Geospatial Scientist, Surveying Services has statutory functions and governance responsibilities linked to most the State’s critical social, economic and environmental development initiatives, including:
- Surveys and approvals for all major government infrastructure projects, Crown Land management, parks, protection areas, and Aboriginal Title
- Continuous and reliable access to accurate positioning infrastructure networks and services
- Standards for surveying and survey information for professional Land Surveyors
- Ongoing maintenance and upgrading of the digital cadastre and cadastral survey infrastructure
- Preserving Victorian culture and protecting our communities through the standardisation and auditing of geographic place names

About the Role
*This is a Fixed Term Position until March 2028*
The Senior Project Officer will ensure the management of a range of operational projects across Surveying Services necessary for the smooth running of business and information management and will co-ordinate a range of communication initiatives and publications. The Senior Project Officer will also manage the Surveying Services Panel, coordinate strategic, business and workforce planning activities and prepare relevant, high quality and timely business reports, correspondence, presentations and briefs for the branch.

Position Outcomes
- Manage projects, utilising project management methodologies to contribute to the implementation of change within the business or research and prepare draft project or summary reports, briefing or project plans, under limited direction.
- Manage the Surveying Services Panel to ensure that the Panel Rules are adhered to, all documents associated with procurements are stored appropriately and supplier contracts and payments are processed through the Oracle/Zycus Contract Management Platform.
- Provide and participate in strategic resource planning and reporting, overseeing the engagement and onboarding of critical resources to ensure delivery on major transport and other government initiatives.
- Provide high level project support to the Surveying Services division and the Leadership team in a professional, highly organised, and proactive manner, anticipating needs and providing corporate expertise.
- Contribute to stakeholder and engagement communication initiatives such as bulletins, news items, promotional internal and external publications.
- Coordinate the timely flow of any briefs, correspondence, Cabinet, and business reporting requests working collaboratively within Planning and Land Services, Land Use Victoria and industry. Undertake research or investigations on behalf of Surveying Services, as required.

Qualifications and Experience
Mandatory
- A tertiary qualification and/or experience in finance or business management, engineering, technology development, or project management with a commercial focus would be well regarded.
- Significant experience in program governance and reporting within a complex and fast-moving professional working environment is required.
- High level of written and verbal communication skilss
Desirable
- Strong knowledge of Victorian Government governance compliance policies and procedures.
- Previous Victorian Government experience using Zycus and Oracle Cloud ERP.
