Road Safety Victoria is a Division in the Department of Transport and Planning, and is responsible for leading the Victorian Government to achieve zero road fatalities by 2050.

About the Role

The role is fixed term fulltime until 30 April 2027. The Senior Project Officer position sits within the Road Safety Strategy and Systems directorate in Road Safety Victoria and forms part of a small team responsible for administering the Motorcycle Safety Levy (MSL) Program. This role plays a key part in supporting motorcycling safety efforts in Victoria through the effective delivery of a range of projects funded through the Victorian Motorcycle Safety Levy.

The Senior Project Officer will apply sound project management practices to support the effective planning and delivery of projects funded through the MSL program. The role requires an individual capable of building strong professional relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).  The role will suit an individual who is interested in road safety, is self-motivated who can effectively utilise their sound project and stakeholder management skills to deliver projects within scope, budget and timeframes.

Position Outcomes /Accountabilities

The individual will support the effective delivery of a range of projects funded through the MSL Program, and will lead the adminstration of the Safer Motorcycling Grants Program. The indivdual will apply sound project management principles and organisational policies to deliver projects in line with DTP requirements, to ensure that projects are delivered appropriately. The individual will prepare timely and high quality reports on the health of projects and provide authoritative advice to management to ensure effective program delivery.

In this pivotal role, you will translate complex strategies into effective programs, ensuring robust governance structures are in place to manage risks and achieve outcomes. Your ability to understand and navigate political and organisational dynamics will be key in maximising value from investment decisions and delivering strong business cases.

You will work closely with a range of stakeholders, using your insight into their needs and organisational contexts to foster strong partnerships and deliver impactful results. With a focus on collaboration and co-creation, you will engage across disciplines to shape user-centred solutions and ensure decisions are made efficiently and inclusively.

Critical thinking and problem-solving are central to your approach you will identify systemic issues, integrate innovative solutions, and drive improvements that align with broader departmental goals. A future-focused mindset will see you proactively adopt new technologies and contribute to organisational readiness in a changing environment.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory

Experience in program or project management in a relevant field, such as road safety, public sector policy or public health.
Proven ability to develop and maintain strong, productive partnerships with key stakeholders.
Strong communications and negotiation skills, and the ability to present complex information in a digestible form.

Desirable

Previous experience in the administration of a grants program is desirable but not essential.
