Investment and Technology leads and manages the investment lifecycle; drives commercial advice & negotiations to facilitate reform; and enables core delivery through Finance, Procurement & Enterprise Technology.

Commercial Advisory is a division within Investment and Technology, and works to plan for, design and lead major commercial transactions and deliver commercial and contract management services delivering innovative and value for money outcomes.
  

About the role

*This is a fixed term opportunity until 22 February 2027

The Senior Project Officer provides contract management and commercial advice for the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre Public Private Partnership, working closely with the Senior Contract Manager. They review payments, manage contract changes, monitor performance and deliverables and prepare advice for senior leaders and ministers. The role works with colleagues across the Department of Transport and Planning and the Department of Treasury and Finance, as well as private partners. By carefully managing risks and ensuring contracts are followed, they help protect public funds and support strong, well-run commercial arrangements that deliver value to the State.

You’re someone who:

  • Builds effective relationships with stakeholders, understands their needs and works to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Demonstrates sound commercial awareness, managing costs carefully and ensuring vendors meet agreed terms.
  • Looks for ways to improve processes, encourages new ideas and supports continuous improvement.
  • Manages contracts effectively, overseeing supplier performance, compliance and risks while working collaboratively across teams.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in commerce, business management, public policy or related discipline.
  • Experience in a contract management-based role of large complex and high value infrastructure contracts.
  • Substantial professional experience in government or in a relevant commercial transaction or contract management position.

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
