Investment and Technology leads and manages the investment lifecycle; drives commercial advice & negotiations to facilitate reform; and enables core delivery through Finance, Procurement & Enterprise Technology.

About the role

This role is responsible for leading a three-member team primarily for weekly publishing of all PTV timetable data to internal and external customer channels. In addition, this role interfaces with the Train (Metro and Vline) and Tram (Yarra) operators for importing their updates into DTP’s master timetable database. This role is also responsible for providing technical support on DTP timetable software and maintaining the configuration of the DTP ticketing databases

They will demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and a collaborative approach, fostering productive team environments and adapting quickly to changing priorities to achieve high-quality outcomes. 

Position accountabilities

– Leadership of the Timetable Data Rail team ensuring that team members are supported day to day through appropriate guidance and direction, ensuring objectives are clear and well understood.
– Management of the rail data import and export processes ensuring that high-quality data is provided in a timely manner for customer information.
– Technical support of the ticketing system reference data, including resolution of issues and reviews of functionality.
– Network service changes are anticipated and managed, ensuring that all data requirements are considered and complete prior to the effective change.
– Strong problem-solving ability within technical and non-technical environments, to provide best practice advice regarding the management of DTP data and systems.
– Tactical stakeholder management with DTP stakeholders, rail operators and external agencies to ensure that team goals are met, and team requirements are advocated for.
– Lead the team through projects and change activities, as per strategic objectives. Provide team governance with support from leadership.
 

Qualifications and experience

Mandatory
• Technical understanding of DTP timetable systems and rail timetable data.
• Ability to lead and manage a team of technical and non-technical staff to ensure high-quality outputs.
• Lead a team through large change initiatives and projects, including both technical expertise and stakeholder management.
• Exceptional communications skills, being able to explain technical issues to non-technical staff, coupled with advanced ability to collaborate and influence relevant stakeholders.
• Proven ability to identify and implement solutions to complex technical challenges.

Desirable
• Knowledge of the Victorian public transport network
• Understanding of public transport operations and how timetable, geospatial and scheduling data reflect operations.
• Qualification in technology, data management and/or project management
