About the role

*This is a Fixed Term Position until December 2027*

The Senior Reporting Analyst is a key role within the Road Safety Partnership Governance and Reporting team, delivering a balanced mix of strategic oversight and operational reporting to support effective program management and governance across the Road Safety portfolio. The position provides high-quality performance reporting, analysis, insights and governance support that strengthens visibility, assurance and informed decision-making aligned with Victoria’s Road Safety Strategy and Action Plans. 

 Working across a large and complex multi-agency environment, the role collaborates closely with teams across the Department and with the Road Safety Partnership to coordinate, validate and synthesise program, project and risk information. It ensures reporting is accurate, consistent and aligned with governance needs, while contributing to streamlined, proportionate and fit-for-purpose reporting and monitoring approaches that minimise unnecessary complexity and maximise value for decision-makers.

This role requires an accomplished professional with strong data literacy, able to design effective data collection and analysis approaches, derive insights from complex datasets, and support predictive decision-making. The position demands proven capability in translating strategy into well-governed programs or projects, applying critical thinking to deliver tangible business outcomes, and proactively resolving complex issues within a broader organisational context. Position accountabilities

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is seeking a Senior Reporting Analyst to deliver high-quality governance reporting and performance insights that support informed decision-making across key programs and Road Safety Partnerships. This role is responsible for coordinating and assuring accurate, timely and consistent reporting for divisional leadership and governance forums.

You will develop and maintain dashboards, summaries and insights that clearly communicate progress, risks and priorities, while monitoring program, performance and risk information to identify emerging trends and material issues. Using strong analytical capability, you will ensure reporting approaches are streamlined, scalable and focused on what matters most.
 
The role provides specialist, evidence-based advice to support governance discussions, assurance activities and executive briefings, translating complex information into clear, high-quality information products. You will build strong partnerships across the department and with external stakeholders to support consistent reporting practices, effective information flow and shared understanding.
You will also contribute to continuous improvement by refining reporting processes, tools and templates, supporting capability uplift in data literacy and reporting maturity, and helping streamline governance and reporting cycles. Success in this role requires strong communication and analytical skills, experience in performance or governance reporting, and a collaborative, improvement-focused mindset.
 
 

Qualifications and experience

Mandatory
  • Demonstrated experience in program/portfolio performance reporting, governance support, monitoring, or analytics within a large, complex, or multi-agency environment. 

  • Experience in preparing dashboards and developing project or program performance insights, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint and business intelligence/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau or similar).

 

Desirable

  • Experience in preparing dashboards, project and program performance insights. 

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as data analytics, business, commerce, project management or information systems. 

  • Training or certification in business analysis or business/process improvement (e.g., PRINCE2 Foundation, Lean/Six Sigma Yellow Belt or equivalent).
