Position accountabilities
- This role is responsible for leading and embedding transformational Occupational Health and Safety initiatives across all field-based activities within the Department of Transport and Planning. It focuses on reducing workplace injuries by driving evidence-based safety programs, analysing risk data, and implementing consistent, proactive risk solutions in collaboration with divisions and contractors. The position also undertakes assurance activities, investigations, and training while coaching managers and staff to strengthen safety performance and ensure compliance with legal and organisational standards.
Qualifications and experience
Mandatory:
- Diploma Work Health and Safety
- ICAM Qualification and or demonstratable experience
- Ability and willingness to travel and work across locations within metropolitan and regional Victoria.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions on subject matter expertise
Desirable:
- Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and development
- Certificate IV Training & Assessment

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions
All new appointments to the department will be subject to a National Criminal Records Check, Misconduct Screening, and a Qualification Check where there is a requirement for a mandatory qualification. Information provided to the Department of Transport and Planning will be treated in the strictest confidence consistent with the requirements of the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.

Non-VPS applicants will be subject to a probation period of six months.
