VIDA Roads (formerly Major Road Projects Victoria) is delivering a massive investment in the state’s roads.  We’re delivering major new road projects across metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria while improving the roads people rely on every day.  

North East Link will fix the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network with new 6.5 km tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen. We’re also overhauling the Eastern Freeway and completing the M80 Ring Road at Greensborough. 

Road Programs are also delivering dozens of new roads, bridges, road widening projects and major freeway upgrades throughout the state of Victoria.

  1. Oversee the development and delivery of health and safety governance, compliance, and systems initiatives in line with the VIDA Roads Health and Safety Strategy.  

  1. Manage and mentor a small team to achieve safety governance objectives, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.  

  1. Support risk management activities including workshops and proactively address emerging safety risks through strategic recommendations.  

 
The Senior Safety Advisor provides a range of critical functions for VIDA Roads’ Health, Safety and Wellbeing division in relation to the development and implementation of health and safety compliance, governance and system initiatives. Working closely with the delivery team and under minimum supervision, the successful incumbent to this position will be inspired to influence a safe working environment and develop robust compliance and assurance processes in accordance with VIDA Roads’ Health and Safety Strategy.   

Key to the success of this role are excellent communication skills, and the ability to build collaborative and productive working relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups. The successful incumbent will be empowered to utilise and further develop their knowledge across safety governance practices and safety management systems in a complex, multistakeholder environment.   

Reporting to the Manager, Safety, this role will lead a small team to ensure the implementation and maintenance of VIDA Roads’ Health and Safety Management System and associated tools that enable project delivery, striving to achieve the project's safety vision of 'leaving the industry better than we found it’.  

This opportunity is a three (3) year fixed-term. 

It will be a requirement to travel and spend time at one or all our site offices throughout Melbourne and Regional Victoria.
