Title: Senior Solution Architect
About Us
The Department of Transport and Planning oversees key planning, transport and land use policy decisions and management across the State. A life-cycle approach to planning, building, connecting and sustaining communities means our people can come together to; improve services, deliver sustainable projects, focus on customer engagement, streamline regulatory approval pathways, facilitate community consultation and better realise local economic opportunities for more liveable communities across Victoria.
The Data and Digital division is within the Investment & Technology group. Data & Digital provides the department with operational excellence for data & digital-enabled services and project execution for large-scale design and uplift initiatives.
We’re focused on outcomes that deliver more choice, connections and confidence in our travel, ensuring the whole transport network works as one to deliver better services and outcomes.
About the Role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2026.
We are seeking a Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of the technical architecture for Victoria’s new public transport ticketing system and real-time data platforms. You will ensure these systems integrate securely and seamlessly into new digital channels, including apps and websites used by millions of Victorians.
This is a role for a systems thinker and technical strategist — someone who can guide cloud-native and enterprise-level solution design while influencing stakeholders, managing dependencies, and ensuring architectural quality across the project lifecycle.
You will collaborate closely with Principal Architects, vendors, and program partners to align technical implementation with broader goals around infrastructure, security, identity, data, and integration. You’ll be instrumental in shaping not just the systems we build, but how those systems improve transport services across the state.

What You’ll Bring — and Why You’ll Want to Be Here
As our Solution Architect, you won’t just be designing systems — you’ll be architecting the digital foundations of Victoria’s future public transport experience. You’ll shape enterprise-scale solutions that are cloud-ready, secure, and aligned with a modern vision for service delivery. With deep expertise in architecture, a command of emerging technologies, and a knack for translating technical requirements into business impact, you’ll guide our programs to deliver innovation that’s not just future-proof — but future-powered.
You’ll operate at the strategic core of one of the most high-profile digital transformations in the state. Whether leading design across Azure or AWS environments, advising governance panels, or driving integration with real-time data platforms, your decisions will echo across infrastructure, apps, and customer-facing services.
You think in systems, move with purpose, and speak the language of both engineers and executives. You challenge convention, champion progress, and remain grounded in delivering practical, high-quality outcomes. You know when to lead, when to partner, and when to simplify. Most of all, you thrive in complexity — not to tame it, but to transform it.
