About the role 

The Spatial Services team manages, supports, and enhances spatial systems and services that help the department, local government, and the broader planning industry deliver effective planning outcomes. The team develops and maintains information and GIS systems to provide high-quality spatial services and support decision-making.

The Senior Spatial Analyst delivers advanced GIS solutions focused on urban planning, using spatial analysis, Python automation, and JavaScript web applications. The role designs and maintains geoprocessing services, ETL pipelines, automated data workflows, and web mapping applications, while ensuring data quality and system reliability. It also involves translating planning needs into technical solutions, communicating complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences, and building strong stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Expertise in designing complex ETL pipelines, developing custom Python/FME scripts for automated geoprocessing and multi-source data integration, and building scalable spatial solutions (mandatory).
  • Strong capability in developing high-performance web applications using TypeScript and JavaScript, with comprehensive experience across the ArcGIS ecosystem including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Pro (mandatory).
  • Experience with enterprise databases, automated workflows, spatial data analysis, and relevant knowledge of AWS and the planning/urban planning domain, supported by a relevant qualification in Spatial, Computer Science, or Urban Planning (desirable).
