About the role


This is a fixed term role until 30/06/2027

The Solution Architect role will create and deliver the overall technical architecture that supports the digital transformation projects within the Department.  

This role provides the link between understanding enterprise technology direction and interpreting broad directions into specific technology solutions as relevant to the business domain. With a broad remit across the business domain which encompasses multiple solutions delivery, this role also provides guidance to project solution architects to ensure alignment. 

This role actively engages with Principal Architects within the Data & Digital division to deliver strategically aligned solutions. Together, you will address cross-functional priorities such as enterprise architecture, security, infrastructure, identity, integration, data, digital, spatial and governance, ensuring a cohesive and comprehensive architectural outcome. 

This role will allow you to demonstrate your cloud architecture capability (with AWS and/or Azure) delivering solutions to completion. You will be expected to be a trusted advisor to the technical and non-technical stakeholders and resources within the transport projects. The role will be required to work with multiple project stakeholders and multiple other programs for dependency management.

Position accountabilities

–    Provide expert advice on technical aspects of solution development and contribute to align architectural roadmaps with business requirements to better ensure customer needs are met.
–    Negotiate with and influence key stakeholders in order to establish and maintain effective relationships at multiple levels within the ICT landscape, DTP and Victorian Government to deliver solution services in a highly collaborative manner.
–    Develops all required documentation to support the architecture decisions, solution architectures and governance processes.
–    Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations.

 

Technical Capabilities

–    SFIA – Architecture (Accomplished) – Applies architectural capability across projects and stakeholders, directing others and resolving complexity.
• Consistently applies knowledge and skill to complexity associated with a capability.
• Can direct others in tasks related to this capability to deliver successful outcomes.
• Can navigate complexities associated with the demonstration of this capability across multiple stakeholders.
–    Design and Architecture (Accomplished)  –  Designs initiatives that leverage digital technologies and ensure compliance with emerging legislative trends.

 

Qualifications and experience

–    Bachelor's level qualification in computer science, engineering, information systems or similar. (mandatory)
–    Three or more years of demonstrable experience in Solution Architecture with a minimum of two years within the enterprise system domain (mandatory)
–    Demonstrated experience in solution design and delivery with cloud (Azure and/or AWS), on-premises, or hybrid implementation including relevant hands-on experience. (mandatory)
–    Demonstrated experience in influencing project or program outcomes by working with diverse sets of stakeholders. (mandatory)
–    Demonstrated experience in presenting and articulating solutions for technical and non-technical stakeholders. (mandatory)
–    Demonstrated experience architecting CSS and CRM Solutions on Pega, Salesforce, Dynamics365 platforms (mandatory)
–    Demonstrated experience with integration and middleware solutions (mandatory), MuleSoft/Axway platform experience (desirable)
–    Architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF) and/or Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure) would be highly regarded. (desirable)
–    Experience with Payment Gateways, web services technologies (SOAP, XML) and Enterprise Security Standards (OAuth2, SAML, LDAP, SSO, Firewall, WS-Security, PKI). (desirable)
–    Previous experience with solution design with API and Integration projects with demonstrable successful outcomes. (desirable)
–    Previous hands on development experience with some of the following: .NET, Java/ JEE, Mulesoft, Spring Boot, JavaScript, Python, PHP, XML, SOAP, REST, JSON, SAML, NodeJS and other API related technologies. (desirable)
–    Experience in digital transformation, apps, websites and ticketing systems. (desirable)
