VIDA Health (Victorian Health Building Authority) is responsible for the rollout of the Victorian Government's multi-billion-dollar health capital projects. We're delivering world-class health facilities across Victoria including new public hospitals and emergency care, community health services, ambulance branches, residential aged care and mental health facilities. VIDA Health also provides technical support across engineering, property, asset management and environmental sustainability disciplines. 

 

The Opportunity

 

The Specialist, Structural Engineer is a key technical leadership role within the Engineering team, providing expert advice across the planning, procurement and delivery of major health infrastructure projects across Victoria. Acting as the primary source of structural and façade engineering expertise, you will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders to influence critical project decisions and ensure consistent application of engineering standards in line with the Authority’s frameworks and guidelines. This role also plays an important part in mentoring and developing team capability, fostering strong stakeholder relationships, and contributing to a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment.

 

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Contributing across the full project lifecycle by undertaking research, analysis, and implementation activities to deliver outcomes aligned with departmental objectives.
  • Managing projects or sub-projects, ensuring successful delivery within agreed scope, timelines, budget and resourcing constraints.
  • Providing expert, authoritative advice on complex issues, influencing stakeholders with competing priorities and negotiating effectively to achieve alignment on project objectives.

 

We are looking for:

  • A strong background and demonstrated experience in structural engineering, façade systems, and civil engineering within major projects and construction environments.
  • Demonstrated capability to guide project scope and requirements to achieve strong value outcomes for the State.
  • Competence to lead and undertake design reviews of technical documentation, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, project standards and industry best practice.
  • Understanding of contemporary façade construction techniques and methodologies.
  • Ability to provide professional leadership and guidance at a senior level.
