About the role 
The role sits within Government Valuations, supporting the Valuer-General’s statutory responsibilities to provide independent, accurate, and compliant valuation advice for government property transactions, compensation matters, and financial reporting. It also contributes to maintaining valuation standards, quality assurance, and legislative compliance across government valuation activities.

The position leads the day-to-day operations of a valuation team, providing expert advice on complex and sensitive valuation matters. Key responsibilities include managing resources and quality systems, developing staff capability, overseeing valuation outputs, improving policies and processes, and maintaining strong relationships with government and industry stakeholders. The role also represents the organisation in meetings, mediations, court proceedings, and industry forums.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) accreditation, Australian Property Institute (API) membership, and a current driver’s licence.
  • Strong knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1960 and related legislation, regulations, and professional standards governing government valuations.
  • Significant experience delivering valuations for government purposes, with a sound understanding of government processes and land administration matters.

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
