About the role 

The Specialist Valuer, Rating & Taxation Valuations delivers complex statutory valuations, objections, reviews and dispute resolution for Victorian rating and taxation purposes. The role provides authoritative, legally defensible valuation advice, applies legislation and professional standards, and may provide expert evidence to VCAT, courts and other review bodies.

The role leads quality assurance, risk management and stakeholder engagement with valuation providers, rating authorities, the State Revenue Office and legal representatives. It also leads and develops a high-performing team, promotes consistent and timely outcomes, and upholds Victorian Public Sector values, cultural safety, integrity, impartiality and ethical practice.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

• An appropriate tertiary qualification, Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) status and Australian Property Institute (API) membership (mandatory), along with a driver’s licence (mandatory).
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1960 and relevant legislation, case law, regulations, standards and Victorian valuation best practice (mandatory).
• Significant Victorian experience delivering statutory valuations across rating and taxation, including Windfall Gains Tax, objections and appeals, with expert valuation skills across diverse property types (mandatory); experience with VMonline and Victorian government land administration is desirable

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
