About the role

This is an Ongoing fulltime position

The Specialist Valuer, Rating Authority Valuations role manages, audits and certifies statutory property valuations for rating and taxation purposes under Victorian legislation. It ensures valuation work is accurate, compliant and delivered on time by leading projects, supervising staff and coordinating internal and contract valuers. The role provides expert advice on complex valuation, legal and objection matters and supports dispute resolution and tribunal or court processes. It works closely with government agencies, stakeholders and contractors, influencing consistent valuation standards. Success ensures fair, reliable property valuations, improved public confidence and effective revenue collection for government services.

Qualifications and experience

  • Completion of an appropriate tertiary qualification with Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) status and membership with the Australian Property Institute (API) (mandatory).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Valuation of Land Act 1960, and other relevant legislation, regulations and standards governing the provision of valuation advice by the Valuer-General (mandatory).
  • Significant experience in valuations for Rating Authority Valuations in Victoria, and associated valuations for Local Government (essential).
  • Comprehensive knowledge, experience and proficiency in the use of Victorian Rating Valuation calculation systems such as VMonline (essential).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the local government and government processes and land administration matters in Victoria (essential).
  • Driver’s License (mandatory).

 

Pre-employment checks and employment conditions

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
