About the role
This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2027
The role supports the preparation of strategic plans for metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, including structure plans, precinct plans, growth frameworks and infrastructure contribution plans. It also contributes to improving planning processes through the PSP2.0 framework.
The role involves working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging councils, government agencies and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include preparing briefs, presentations, drawings and plans; coordinating external technical advice; and using project management skills and systems to deliver projects effectively and on time.

You’re someone who:
• Builds strong relationships and collaborates effectively across teams and with stakeholders, while adapting to changing environments.
• Thinks critically and solves problems by interpreting guidelines, assessing information and developing practical solutions.
• Understands and applies strategic planning principles, with knowledge of the Victorian planning system, statutory frameworks and local government practices.
• Communicates clearly and persuasively, tailoring messages to different audiences to build understanding, engagement and support.
• Embraces change and manages competing priorities, working effectively across multidisciplinary teams to achieve outcomes.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
• Relevant tertiary qualification and experience in urban development, town planning, property, urban design, landscape architecture, architecture or a related field (mandatory).
• Strong stakeholder and problem-solving skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively, consider multiple perspectives and deliver practical outcomes.
• Experience in a similar role within a planning context, with demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to planning projects (mandatory).
