About the role
The Team Leader, Employment Pathways leads a small team responsible for delivering and continuously improving the Department’s graduate, intern and trainee programs. The role oversees end-to-end recruitment, ensuring best-practice selection processes, a positive candidate experience and programs that meet current and future workforce needs.
Working closely with business areas, stakeholders and external partners, the role uses data and feedback to enhance program performance and participant outcomes. It also strengthens early-career talent pipelines, supports workforce planning, manages program budgets and vendor relationships, and ensures programs align with organisational priorities, VPS values and departmental standards.

You’re someone who:
- Builds strong partnerships with hiring managers, stakeholders and external providers to deliver successful employment pathway programs and workforce outcomes.
- Engages and influences stakeholders effectively, providing clear advice and balancing program requirements with organisational priorities.
- Leads and develops teams, creating an inclusive, collaborative and high-performing culture through coaching, support and accountability.
- Plans and delivers complex recruitment and pathway programs, managing priorities, risks and timelines to achieve quality outcomes.
- Uses data, insights and feedback to drive continuous improvement, enhance participant experiences and strengthen talent pipeline outcomes.

Qualifications and experience
You’ll bring:
- Demonstrated experience delivering end-to-end early careers recruitment and employment pathway programs (mandatory).
- Experience leading teams, projects or programs within large or complex organisations (mandatory).
- Proven ability to build strong stakeholder partnerships, influence outcomes, and use data, insights and feedback to drive continuous improvement and support workforce and talent priorities (mandatory).
