About the role

As Team Leader, HR Assist you will lead a team of HR Advisors and Officers to deliver timely, accurate and customer-focused HR support across the organisation. This opportunity oversees the team that triages and manages enquiries as the first point of contact for our People Division, ensuring a consistent and seamless employee experience. You will drive process improvements, promote effective self-service solutions, and use insights to enhance knowledge resources. The role ensures HR Assist operates efficiently, delivers high-quality and compliant services, and remains responsive to evolving organisational needs.

You bring well-developed interpersonal skills, building trust and adapting communication to suit diverse audiences. You apply critical thinking to resolve complex issues and make informed decisions. With strong data literacy, you use insights to guide outcomes and future planning. You also demonstrate effective team management, with the ability to align workforce capability and structure to deliver organisational priorities.

Qualifications and experience

Mandatory

  • Demonstrated capability to provide HR advice, influencing senior stakeholders and contributing to positive organisational and workforce outcomes.
  • Proven experience in leading, developing, and managing high-performing teams

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualification in a Human Resources or relevant field.
  • Understanding of the Victorian Government's organisational context and priorities.
  • Experience using various HRIS software programs, preferably HCM Success Factors/SAP.
