The Rail Timetabling Team is responsible for ensuring that the Transport Victoria digital channels and Open Data are correctly populated on a weekly basis with Metro Train, V/Line Rail and Coach and Yarra Tram timetabling data.
Our team ensures that Network Service Change (NSC) changes involving timetabling data are performed in accordance with the NSC Project Schedule.
About the role
This role is responsible for the ensuring timetable data (including route and stop information) provided by Operators is updated in DTP’s databases. Both Operator data and DTP systems is managed by this role ensuring high quality data is provided in tight timeframes
- Displayed data is both correct and legible for DTP products such as website timetables, journey planner, mobile applications, timetables at stops and signage.
- Continuous liaison with DTP teams, transport operators and external agencies
- Management of the data import/export process
- The process of importing and exporting data is consistently evaluated
- Issues that arise through the data import process are investigated and resolved
- Provides expert advice and guidance regard continuous improvement
- Provides expert advice to projects, or discrete pieces of work.
What we’re looking for
To be successful you will require strong project delivery capability, with the ability to prioritise tasks, use approved tools and maintain accurate records. You bring sound data literacy, analysing information, creating visualisations and using tools such as Excel to support decision making. With strong critical thinking, you solve complex data and operational issues within tight timeframes. You actively contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance processes and outcomes. Adaptable and responsive, you manage changing priorities with ease. You also work collaboratively, building positive team environments, sharing knowledge and supporting others to achieve successful outcomes

Qualifications and experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field and/or relevant industry experience (Mandatory)
- Previous use of complex databases, manipulate electronic data and understand the output of different data formats. (Mandatory)
- Ability to operate database interfaces for customised hardware.
- Knowledge of downstream use of data and ability to liaise with users and external parties to ensure correct usage and understanding.
- Understanding of public transport operations and how timetable, geospatial and scheduling data reflect operations would be desirable.

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa necessary for the nature of the position.
