About the role 

The Validators and Communications Specialist supports the operation and maintenance of myki ticketing systems across trains, trams and buses. Reporting to the Senior Manager Equipment and Installation, the role coordinates validator operations, field communications and traveller information systems, while supporting fare enforcement and ensuring service delivery aligns with governance frameworks and operational requirements.

The role is responsible for managing validator operations, maintenance, testing and field communications across public transport networks to ensure reliable ticketing services and accurate traveller information. The business requires strong stakeholder coordination, technical expertise, governance oversight and proactive management of suppliers, transport operators and enforcement partners to minimise disruptions and support operational delivery.

  • Builds and maintains strong stakeholder relationships by understanding needs and delivering shared outcomes
  • Applies asset lifecycle management expertise to optimise performance, risk, cost, and investment decisions in line with strategy and compliance.

Qualifications and experience 

You’ll bring: 

  • Demonstrated experience in equipment operations and maintenance, field services management and transport asset management (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of smart ticketing technology, the communications equipment lifecycle and transport fare systems (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and associated methodologies (desirable)
